SOUND SYSTEM SET UP

We want you to have a good experience with the sound system you rent. Below is some advise to get the best sound for your event whether you are using it for a speaking event or music.

  • Be sure to bring an extension cord and power strip. You never know where the wall outlet might be. The power strip will come in handy if you have to plug in your computer, phone charger, etc.
  • Set up your sound table with the power head (mixer) and device you will be using to play your music in an area of the room where you will have good contact with everyone. Your microphone should be used in this area.
  • Be sure to set up your speakers at least 5 feet to each side of the sound table, the farther out you can spread them, the better. Aim the speakers to the back center of the room. Make sure the speakers are not aiming at your microphone. Set up the microphone in front of or to the side of the sound table.
  • When hooking up the speakers be sure the power head (mixer) is off and the volume controls turned down, there is an on/off switch on the back. The black knobs on the front of the power head where the microphone and music cord plugs in are the volume controls. Turning these knobs counter clockwise turns down the volume, (leave the master volume control on the far right 3/4 of the way up).
  • When everything is plugged in and ready for a sound test, turn the power head (mixer) on. You should see a light on the front of the power head come on.
  • Plug your microphone into one of the jacks, hold the microphone in your hand. Turn on the microphone, there is a switch on the microphone. Now hold it about 1/2 inch from your mouth. Slowly turn the black volume knob clockwise on the channel the microphone is plugged into. Now start speaking into the microphone until you are satisfied with the volume. You should have someone stand out where the audience will be and have them let you know when the volume is loud enough. When not in use turn the microphone switch off.
  • Now for the music, plug in the provided cord into the headphone jack on your music device. Plug the end of the provided cord with two jacks into the channel that has two inputs. Select a song on your device and make sure the volume is only about 3/4 of the way up. Now slowly turn the black volume knob on mixers music channel up. Adjust until the music is at a level you are satisfied with.
  • Note: the music can be playing lightly in the background while using the microphone if desired.
